Michelangelo: Evolution of a Renaissance Sculptor
Join us on Tuesday, July 19, at 7:00 p.m. when art historian Dr. Michelle Mishur returns to the library to present a program about Michelangelo's sculptures. Examples of early works by Michelangelo, including La Pietà and David, will be considered, as well as later examples such as the Tomb of Julius II in Rome. Dr. Mishur also will discuss in detail Michelangelo’s process for making sculpture and provide historical context for the works. The Vatican will be loaning an official copy of Michelangelo’s Pietà to a Chicago area church, making our Michelangelo: Evolution of a Renaissance Sculptor program particularly topical.
