Banned Books Week this year runs from September 30th - October 6th. and as in previous years we will be observing it with a program performed by City Lit Theater Company. Books on the Chopping Block is a staged reading of excerpts from the top ten most frequently challenged books of 2011. It takes place on Saturday, September 30th at 2:00 and is intended for adults though children from grade 6 and up are welcome!
Also be sure to come by the library during Banned Books Week to view displays of banned books and to pick up a flyer listing titles of banned and challenged books, many of which may surprise you! Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, the American Library Association, the Association of American Publishers, the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the National Association of College Stores.
