This week we're very excited to have two authors visiting the library to speak about their books. On Wednesday, June 12th at 6:30 p.m., Marilyn D. Jacobson, the author of Turning the Pyramid Upside Down: A New Leadership Model, will talk about how organization leaders need to focus more on partnering and collaborating in order to succeed in a world of globalization and hyper-connectivity. Ms. Jacobson has had a wide-ranging career in both academia and management consulting. Now working primarily as an executive coach, Ms. Jacobson has taught at both UIC’s and Loyola’s MBA programs and consulted for retail, manufacturing, healthcare, legal, and financial organizations and for government entities.
The following night - Thursday, June 13th at 7:30 p.m. - please join us for George Rosen, the author of The Immanence of God in the Tropics, a 2012 collection of short stories. Former local Rosen (New Trier ’64) now lives and writes in Gloucester, Massachusetts. His short stories have appeared in Harper’s, the Yale Review, the Harvard Review, and in a Harcourt Brace anthology of crime fiction, A Matter of Crime. He has reported on West Africa for The Atlantic Monthly, on Mexico for the Boston Globe, and worked as a radio commentator and political speechwriter.
