Teen Movie Marathon!

Staying in town over spring break and looking for something fun to do? Join us on Monday, March 30th for our second annual movie marathon! We’ll start at 1:30 pm with If I Stay, a drama about a teen girl in a coma caught between life and death. Next up at 3:30 pm is Guardians of the Galaxy, a superhero movie in which a group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warlord from taking over the universe. Then at 5:30 pm The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I finds Katniss Everdeen in District 13 preparing to overthrow the Capitol. Pizza will be served when Mockingjay begins; movie snacks will be on hand during all movies. Show up for your favorite film or stay for all three. Please note: All movies are rated PG-13 and this program is for those in 6th-12th grades only.

Environmental Film Series

We’ve partnered with Go Green Glencoe! to offer a series of thought provoking and entertaining documentary films on environmental topics. All films will be screened in the library's Hammond Room at 7:00 pm.

February 10: Queen of the Sun: What are the Bees Telling Us? looks at the role of honeybees in the food chain and the consequences of their disappearance from the world’s gardens, fields and orchards. After the film Jessica Reyes, naturalist at the Heller Nature Center, will speak and be available to answer questions.

March 10: Food Patriots, which features people from all walks of life who are trying to change the way Americans eat and buy food, and educate the next generation of consumers. Producer Jennifer Spitz will speak following the movie.

April 14: Bag-It: Is Your Life Too Plastic?, a film in which an average guy makes a resolution to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store, a simple decision that will change his life completely.

Page to Screen: Teen Movie Double Feature

In town for Columbus Day (Monday, October 13th) and looking for something fun to do?  We have just the ticket: screenings of Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars, both based on popular YA novels! We’re kicking things off with Divergent at 4:00, followed immediately by pizza and TFIOS at 6:30. Join us for one movie (or two) or just pizza.  See you at the movies at the library!  Please note that this program is only for those in 6th - 12th grade and that both movies are rated PG-13.

Monday Night at the Movies Venue Change

Due to the upcoming demolition of the Women's Library Club building, all of our Monday Night at the Movies screenings have been moved to the Hammond Room of the library. This change of venue will begin with our August 18th screening of Finding Vivian Maier. We will continue to screen Monday Night at the Movies films at 1:00 and 7:00 and, as always, all our of films are free of charge and open to everyone.

Blockbuster Teen Movies Monday

Join us for our first-ever blockbuster double feature as we screen Thor: The Dark World and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in the movie lounge of the library (aka the Hammond Room) on Monday, July 28th. Thor starts at 3:00, pizza will be served at 5:00, and Catching Fire shows promptly at 5:30. Please note that both movies are rated PG-13 and that this program is ONLY for those in 6th–12th grades. Enjoy the show(s)!

YA Movie Marathon

Stuck in town for spring break and looking for something fun to do? 6th to 12th graders can join us on Monday, March 31 starting at 1:30 pm for our first-ever movie marathon! We’re kicking off with Warm Bodies, a zombie version of Romeo and Juliet that finds Zombie R falling hard for a very much alive Julie. Next, The Way Way Back, our second feature starting at 3:30 pm, is the touching yet comic story of fourteen-year-old Duncan’s summer vacation with his mom, her obnoxious boyfriend, an appealing girl next door, and an unexpected friend made at Water Wizz, the local water park. Closing out the evening at 6:00 pm, we’re pleased to show Gravity, a movie that will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for a medical engineer to survive a series of disasters in space. Popcorn will be on hand for all showings. Show up for your favorite movie or stay for all three! Please note: All of the movies are rated PG-13.

Special Film Event!

We will be hosting a special film screening on Monday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. The Alumni Chapter, a film starring local actor Scott Javore - son of the Glencoe architect of the same name - is an independent feature film best described by its director Matt Helderman as a St. Elmo's Fire for the 21st century . The film, which debuted in February 2011, is a growing-up story about four college graduates coming to terms with a strapped economy and unraveling friendships. The film's running time is 72 minutes and is not rated. It will be playing at the Women's Library Club, 325 Tudor Ct.
