Adult Summer Reading Club Ends

All good things must come to an end and Adult Summer Reading Club counts as one of those things. This Saturday, August 2nd, is the last day for you to record books that you've read and to pick up your final prize. Don't forget that even if you've already read your six books you should still be recording your books with us so you can get double movie rental coupons. Thank you to everyone who participated as well as the Friends of the Library for their continued support!

Summer Reading Club Pizza Party

Kids who are participating in the Paws to Read Summer Reading Club are invited to celebrate another successful summer of reading. On Saturday, August 2nd at 12:00 noon, kids can join us at the library for pizza and fun! If kids haven't finished their books for Paws to Read Summer Reading Club then they should have no fear since they've got two more weeks to do so, as Paws to Read Summer Reading Club won't end until Saturday, August 16th.

Summer Reading Begins!

That moment that you've been waiting for ever since Winter Reading Club ended is finally here! Life’s a Beach is this summer's adult Summer Reading Club theme. Please join us on Saturday, June 7 as we begin signing people up. You may sign up at any time during the eight weeks of the program in person or by email (radesk@glencoepubliclibrary.org). You'll get a prize for signing up and then another one after reading six books. Remember to enter our drawings for weekly prizes. We’ll be giving out our popular free DVD rental coupons for every book read, and they will double once you’ve completed six books! Two grand prizes will be awarded at the close of the program, which is August 2nd.

Of course, we've got a great program going on for kids too! During Paws to Read, kids can keep track of how much time they read this summer and earn prizes along the way. After completing 15 hours of reading, participants earn a paperback book of their choice. New this year is Baby Summer Reading Club, in which children birth to 24 months can earn a free board book by completing fun early literacy activities designed especially for pre-readers and their caregivers. YA Reading Club is already chugging along, so we will have reading clubs for everyone this summer!

YA Summer Reading Begins

What’s hot for summer? The Young Adult Summer Reading Club, of course! Once again we will have lists filled with suggestions of the latest and greatest books for summer. Sign up in person at the Readers’ Services desk any time starting Wednesday, May 28 or sign up by email (radesk@glencoepubliclibrary.org). We have lots of incentives for you, including a paperback book of your choice when you finish the program and chances to win gift certificates to our favorite local bookstore, Books on Vernon. The YA Summer Reading Club is for students entering sixth grade and up. Adult and kids Summer Reading Clubs will begin on Saturday, June 7.

Summer Reading Club Is Here!

This summer we invite you to explore some lesser known literary destinations in our adult Summer Reading Club: Off the Beaten Path.  Join us for our annual kickoff party complete with summertime treats on June 9th.  Sign up then or at your earliest convenience. You may also sign up by email but remember to stop by the Readers’ Services desk to pick up your sign-up prize!  After reading six books, the official program prize is yours. Remember to enter our drawings for weekly prizes. Once again, we’ll be giving out our popular free video rental coupons for every book read, while two grand prizes will be awarded at the close of the program.

Children ages pre-K through 5th grade can sign up for their own Summer Reading Club starting June 8th. Reading is So Delicious! is the theme and kids will earn a prize for every 100 minutes of reading. Come consult with one of our children's librarians who will make sure that the kids pick only the tastiest books!
