Join us for an afternoon concert and celebration of the Friends of the Library's 50th Anniversary on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 5:00 pm. Performing will be the Orion Ensemble, which is celebrating its 19th season. John von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune calls Orion “one of Chicago’s most vibrant, versatile and distinctive ensembles.” The library will close at 4:00 and will reopen at 4:30 for concert seating. The concert is free. Thanks to the Friends of the Library for continuing to sponsor this and other great programs!

Virtuosic works by Vivaldi will be highlighted in Orion's April program. In addition, Scarlatti's showy harpsichord sonatas will be featured, and Orion's clarinetist will add a delightful Marcello transcription. The performers will have a little fun in the middle, playing Bach usually heard on each other's instruments before joining together for a wonderful trio sonata by Telemann.
