Mid-Winter Moments of Peace

Beginning February 1st, come to the library any Sunday in February at 1:30 and learn a unique mindfulness technique to promote inner peace. Or come for all four sessions! Each class begins with a guided meditation experience focusing on a special theme. This experience will be followed by a brief discussion about mindfulness meditation from the Eastern and Western perspectives. The first class will explore patience; subsequent classes will focus on compassion, generosity, and authenticity. After each one-hour class, interested participants may choose to remain for an optional 30-minute discussion and Q&A on mindfulness and the historical role of Buddhism in this practice.

Moments of Peace: Mindfulness Program

Create moments of peace throughout the day. How? Easy. Just by seeing things mindfully. In this class we will experience five different ways of seeing the world mindfully, so that you can cool down and become calm almost anywhere…anytime! This class will be taught by Xianyang Carl Jerome of the North Shore Meditation and Dharma Center of Highland Park, and Glencoe resident Caren Deane Thomas, a consultant who incorporates mindful awareness in her practice. The class will take place in the Hammond Room on Sunday, September 28th at 1:00 and will repeat on Thursday, October 16th at 1:00.
