Growing Monarchs in Your Backyard

Monarchs may be the most familiar North American butterflies, but the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that 970 million of them have vanished since 1990. One of the people working to save the Monarch is Sue Fox McGovern, who exhibited at the Monarch Symposium at the Chicago Botanic Gardens last year. On Tuesday, March 17th at 1:00 pm, she’ll share the secrets to her success in raising Monarchs, Swallowtails and Red Admiral butterflies in her yard in Park Ridge. This program is a collaboration between the Friends of the Green Bay Trail, the North Shore Garden Club, and the Glencoe Public Library.

If the winter cold hasn't gotten you too down then be sure to bring the kids to the library on Saturday, March 14th at 3:00 and let "Mr. Freeze" of Batavia’s Fermilab wow you with the science of extreme cold!
